MY name is Joe Treat. I served aboard the Leader from June of 1978 until May of 1982(Almost 4 years). I volunteered to go overseas on her and join a Nato Squadron of Minesweeps touring Northern Europe from Aug 78-Aug79. It took 30 Days to cross the "Pond". We made Port in Bermuda, Azores, France, and then homeported in Portsmouth, UK. We then went to various other Countries in Northern Europe including Scotland, Germany, Holland, France, Portugal and Spain. The picture I sent you was taken in Ostende, Belgium. Other ports visited was up the Thames as we Moored alongside the Queen Mary (Or some other Museum ship) in Downtown London! In 1981 we crossed the Atlantic again this time for the Med. and lots more great liberty ports. Thats why I extended, to go on this cruise. I was a Radioman 2class.
